All of these are in the app too. Open Stockd Up, go to Settings, then Walk Through Guides. In the app you can tap a step and it takes you straight to the screen it is describing.

Getting started 11

A quick overview

A tour of the whole app in one go.

The one to watch first. This runs through the Dashboard, your settings and reminders, Use It Up, Waste Insights, adding a Space and an item, and the five tabs along the bottom.

  1. Start on DashDash opens on the items that need using up, soonest first. Tap the sort control to reorder them, by date or A to Z.
  2. Find your spacesSpaces is every place you keep things, from the fridge to the medicine cabinet, each with a live count of what is inside.
  3. Search everythingSearch looks across your whole inventory at once, with filters for low stock, expiring and expired, and your recent searches kept to hand.
  4. Check your insightsInsights shows what you are wasting and how your household compares against the national average, so you can watch the habit change over the weeks.
  5. Open your listsLists displays every shopping list you need, with a wealth of smart options to keep you on top of your buying.

Guided setup, start to finish

The whole first run in a few minutes.

Guided setup builds your whole home with you — your name, your household, what you want to track, and your first Spaces and Sections. Tap any step to jump to that part.

  1. Start the set-upOpen Stockd Up for the first time and tap Get started. The whole run takes a couple of minutes, and every answer can be changed later in Settings.
  2. Tell it your nameType the name you want to be called. Stockd Up greets you by name on the dashboard, and the next screen lets you add a photo or skip it.
  3. Name your homeGive your household a name. It heads up your dashboard and any list you share, so everyone can see whose home they are looking at.
  4. Choose what to trackTurn everything on, or tap Let me choose and answer a few quick questions. Stockd Up then shows only what you care about, from use-by dates to what your waste is costing you.
  5. Map out your homeSay how many people live at home, then pick the areas you use and the spaces in them. Stockd Up builds every space and its sections for you, ready to fill.

Setting up your profile

Your name, household and avatar.

Your profile personalises the app — the greeting on your dashboard, the name on shared lists, and your avatar.

  1. Open your profileOpen Settings and tap the card at the very top. Your profile starts empty, so this is where you fill it in.
  2. Choose a photoTap Change photo to take a picture, pick one from your library, or choose an emoji if you would rather not use a photo.
  3. Add your nameTap Display Name, type what you want to be called and tap Save. Stockd Up greets you by name every time you open the dashboard.
  4. Name your householdTap Household Name and give your home a name, then tap Save. It sits above the greeting on your dashboard.
  5. Say who is at homeSet the number of people at home. Stockd Up scales your waste comparisons to the size of your household, so the figures mean something.

Creating a Space from a template

Template to stocked in 30 seconds.

Watch how a ready-made template becomes your own Space - pick it, name it, choose where it lives, and trim the Sections to match your real shelves. Tap any step to jump straight to that part.

  1. Add a spaceFrom My Storage Places, tap Add space in the Quick Actions bar to start building a new place to keep things.
  2. Pick a templateScroll the templates and tap the one that matches your home storage space, for example Fridge. The template sets the space type, and that cannot be changed afterwards, so pick the closest match.
  3. Name your spaceThe Space comes with a default name, you can change this to personalise it to your home. Every space needs a unique name, so a second freezer needs something that tells the two apart at a glance.
  4. Set the detailsSet the specific details for the chosen Space and the location it can be found within your home. If the Space is a freezer there are additional details like the star rating, which helps track how long food should be stored according to guidelines.
  5. Save your spaceThe template has already built the sections for you, ready to rename, remove or add to. Tap Save Space and the new space appears on My Storage Places.

Organising your Space

Rename, reorder and add Sections.

Every Space starts with sensible Sections. Rename them to match your real shelves, put them in the order you actually use, and add any that are missing.

  1. Open your spaceOn the Spaces tab, tap the space you want to organise. It opens out to show the sections inside it.
  2. Open its settingsTap Settings to edit the space. This is where its sections live. The space type itself is fixed once the space is created, so only the inside changes.
  3. Name a sectionTap a section name, clear the default and type what is really there, like Top basket. Names you can picture make everything quicker to find.
  4. Name the restWork down the list and name each section in turn. Removing one is safe too: its items move to Unassigned rather than being deleted.
  5. Save your layoutTap Update Space. The space now lists your own section names, ready for you to put things away in the right place.

Creating your lists

A list for every shop and trip.

Lists are where your shopping lives. Make one per shop or trip, then fill them by hand, by voice, or automatically when something runs out.

  1. Start a new listOn the Lists tab, tap + New to open the new list box. You can keep as many lists as you like.
  2. Name the listType a name that matches how you shop, such as Weekly supermarket or Butchers, so you always know which list to open.
  3. Create itTap Create. The new list appears on your Lists tab straight away, ready for you to fill.
  4. Add the restRepeat for each place you shop. The lists stack up on your Lists tab, so the supermarket, the butchers and your online order all stay apart.

Talk to Stockd Up

Add, check and update your stock by voice.

Tap the mic on your dashboard and just talk. Stockd Up understands everyday wording, amounts and units included, so you can add things, check what you have, mark items opened, log waste and ask how much you have wasted, all without typing.

  1. Find the micThe round mic button sits in the middle of the Add bar at the bottom of your dashboard. Tap it, wait for Listening, then speak naturally.
  2. Say the amount and the placePut a dozen eggs in the fridge, or add two tubs of ice cream to the freezer. The number and unit are understood and never get stuck onto the item name.
  3. Ask about your stockDo I have any milk? What is expiring soon? Am I low on anything? How much have I wasted this month? It answers out loud and on screen.
  4. Every phrase in one placeWording is flexible, so there are lots of ways to say the same thing. Tap See every phrase below for the full, searchable list.

Building out your whole home

Recreate every storage area, from fridge to shed.

Stockd Up mirrors your real home. Everything you track lives inside a Storage Space, so the first job is to recreate your kitchen and beyond - one space at a time. Here is how to build out the whole picture, at your own pace.

6 steps
  1. Start in your SpacesThe Spaces tab is home base - every fridge, cupboard and shelf you add shows up here as a card. Take a look at what you set up during your first run.
  2. Add a space for every storage areaTap Add Space and pick from the ready-made templates, Fridge-Freezer, Pantry, Medicine Cabinet, Utility Room and more, or choose Build your own for anything unusual. Add one for each real place you keep things.
  3. Name it and set the detailsGive the space a name you will recognise. For freezers, set the star rating - Stockd Up uses it to suggest safe storage times. A space type cannot be changed later, so if it is wrong, just create a new one.
  4. Break it into sections and zonesInside a space, add Sections for physical parts (Shelf 1, Cheese Drawer, Door) and Zones for themes (Breakfast, Baking). Placing items at the deepest level makes them far easier to find later.
  5. Fill each space with your itemsOpen a space and tap Add Item to start stocking it. Scan a barcode or enter details by hand - and there is no five-item limit here; that cap only applied during first-run setup.
  6. Work through it room by roomYou do not have to do it all at once. Tackle one space per sitting - fridge today, pantry tomorrow - and your home fills out gradually.

Adding your items

Everything the Add Item screen can do.

Once your spaces exist, filling them is quick. Here is everything the Add Item screen can do.

  1. Open Add ItemFrom inside any space tap Add Item, or use the Add Item button on the dashboard's Quick Actions bar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Scan or typePoint the scanner at a barcode to auto-fill the name and details, or enter them by hand. Anything the scan gets wrong you can edit before saving.
  3. Set category and unitPick a category - it drives the icon and sensible expiry defaults - and the unit you count it in, whether that is items, packs, grams or bottles.
  4. Quantity, pack size and low stockSet how many you have. Add a pack size (like 500g) to unlock consumption estimates, and a low-stock threshold to be nudged before you run out.
  5. Add expiry datesEnter the sealed use-by date if there is one. When you open the item, flip the Opened toggle and Stockd Up works out how long you have left.
  6. Save and repeatSave drops the item into its space. The screen remembers where you were, so adding several in a row is fast.

Scan the shopping in one go

A whole shop onto one shelf in one pass.

Point the camera at your shopping and move along it. Stockd Up reads several barcodes at a time and drops them into a tray, so a bag of shopping goes onto a shelf in one pass. This is for putting shopping away, while the barcodes are still facing you. Scanning one item, or want to know what happens when a code is not recognised? See Scanning barcodes.

  1. Start the sweepOpen the space you are filling and tap Bulk scan items on the shelf you want. Everything you scan lands there.
  2. Point and movePoint at the barcodes and move slowly along. It reads several at a time, so a worktop of shopping goes in one pass.
  3. Watch it fillThe counter climbs and each name appears as it is read. One scan holds up to 60 items.
  4. Tap DoneTap Done when you have covered everything. Nothing is saved yet - the next screen is your chance to check it.
  5. Check what we foundThis is everything it read. Change a count with the plus and minus, or tap the cross to drop anything you do not want.
  6. Add themTap the green button and the whole lot goes onto that shelf at once.
  7. Add the datesStockd Up then offers to date what you just added. Do it now while the packets are in your hand, or tap Not Now and add them later.

Scanning barcodes

One item at a time - how lookup works, and what to do when a code is not found.

The scanner fills in an item's details for you. Here is how lookup works, and what to do when a code is not recognised. That is one item at a time, with the full form in front of you - putting a whole shop away? See Scan the shopping in one go.

  1. Open the scannerStart adding an item and tap the barcode icon, then point your camera at the barcode. Hold steady until it reads. You can also scan straight from a space card.
  2. What happens on a matchStockd Up checks its own cache first, then the Open Food Facts database, and fills in the name and category. You can tweak anything before you save.
  3. What the scanner readsStockd Up looks products up in Open Food Facts, a free open database that covers most UK packaged goods. A scan needs signal, but anything you have scanned before is remembered and works offline.
  4. When a code is not foundNo match is normal for fresh or loose items. Just pick a category and type the name - it takes seconds, and Stockd Up remembers names you have used before.

Managing Spaces 1

Hide spaces to focus

See only the spaces you are actually using today.

Hiding a space never deletes it: every item is still in there, and one tap on the eye brings the whole space straight back.

  1. Open Show / HideOn the Spaces tab, tap the eye above My Spaces to open Show / Hide Spaces, the list of every space you have. This controls whole spaces, not the sections inside them.
  2. Hide a spaceTap the eye beside any space you are not using today. It drops out of My Spaces straight away, and everything inside it stays exactly where it was.
  3. Nothing is deletedWork down the list and hide the rest. A hidden space keeps all its items, sections and dates: this only changes what you see, so you can bring any space back whenever you want it.
  4. Close the listTap the X. My Spaces now shows only the spaces you left switched on, and the eye turns green to remind you that some are tucked away.

Managing items 8

A quick check on your items

See what you have and what needs using, in one tap.

Pull the numbers up whenever you want a quick sense check, then tuck them away and carry on with your Spaces.

  1. Show the totalsOn My Spaces, tap the info icon in the top right to pull up a running summary of everything you have in stock.
  2. Read the numbersFour figures tell you the whole story: total items, how many are expiring soon, how many have already expired, and how many Spaces you are running.
  3. Tuck it awayTap the info icon again to hide the summary and give your Space cards the full screen back.

Mark an item as opened

Know how long the open pack really has left.

Stockd Up counts down from the day you opened it, so nothing quietly goes off at the back of the fridge.

  1. Open the itemOn the Spaces tab, tap the item you have just opened to bring up its details.
  2. Mark it as openedSwitch Mark as opened on. Stockd Up starts counting from today and works out the new use-by date for you.
  3. Say how much is leftDrag the slider to show how much of the open pack is left, so your alerts and Insights stay accurate.
  4. Save itTap Update Item. The item now shows Opened today and its new days left, right there on the Spaces tab.

Change how many you have

Keep the count right when you buy more.

Stockd Up counts every pack separately, so the one that runs out first is the one it warns you about.

  1. Open the itemOn the Spaces tab, tap the item you have just bought more of to open its details.
  2. Add the extra packTap plus to raise the quantity. The number on the shelf and the number in the app stay in step, so you never buy a spare you already have.
  3. Date each packSwitch Different dates per pack on when the new one has a different use-by date, so the older pack keeps its own countdown instead of being lumped in with the new one.
  4. Set the new datePick the date printed on the pack you have just added. The soonest date is the one that drives your alerts, so nothing hides behind a fresher pack.
  5. Save itTap Update Item. The Spaces tab now shows two packs, each counting down on its own date.

Record what’s in one pack

Know how much you really have, not just how many packs.

Stockd Up can now track how much is left once a pack is opened, so your amounts and your waste figures add up.

  1. Open the itemOn the Spaces tab, tap the item to open its Manage panel, where the pack details live.
  2. Add the amountTap What’s in one pack and type the amount, so Stockd Up knows the size of a single pack and not just how many packs you have.
  3. Open the unit listTap the unit box beside the amount to bring up the full list of units.
  4. Pick your unitSearch the list and tap the unit you need, kg here, so your amount is stored with the right measure against it.
  5. Save itTap Update Item. The pack size is stored against the item, ready for the next time you open one.

Set a low stock alert

Know something is running low before you run out.

Stockd Up watches the count and tells you when it drops, and it can put the item on your shopping list for you.

  1. Open the itemOn the Spaces tab, tap the item you want to keep an eye on, then scroll down to its alert settings.
  2. Turn the alert onSwitch Low stock alert on. Stockd Up starts watching the quantity for you instead of you having to remember.
  3. Choose the levelUse minus and plus to choose the quantity that counts as low, so the alert reaches you while there is still some left.
  4. Add it to a listSwitch Auto-add to shopping list on, then set how many to add and which list they go on, so a low item reaches your shopping list on its own.
  5. Save itTap Update Item. The alert is live, and Stockd Up will flag this item the moment it drops to your level.

Add an item to a shopping list

Reorder something you already have, without typing a word.

The item is waiting on the list you chose, with the right quantity, so it is already there when you next go shopping.

  1. Swipe the itemSwipe left on any item, on Dash, Spaces or Search, to bring up its quick actions.
  2. Open the listsTap the blue list button to choose which shopping list the item should go on.
  3. Pick a listPick the list you want, so the item lands with the right shop instead of one long pile.
  4. Set the quantityTap plus to say how many you need, so you come home with the right amount.
  5. Add it to the listTap Add to List. The item is saved to your chosen list with its quantity, ready for your next shop.

Mark an item as wasted

Get an honest picture of what is really being thrown away.

Every item you log makes your Waste Insights more honest, and that is the first step to throwing less away.

  1. Swipe the itemSwipe the item row to the left, on Dash, Spaces or Search, to bring up its quick actions, with no need to open the item first.
  2. Tap the red binTap the red bin. Stockd Up asks how you want to record the removal rather than quietly deleting the item.
  3. Log it as wasteTap Log as waste rather than Remove. This is what feeds your Waste Insights and Waste Score, so the figures reflect what really went in the bin.

Remove an item you no longer have

Keep every Space showing only what is really there.

Counts and expiry alerts update the moment you confirm, so nothing lingers in your list after it has gone.

  1. Swipe the itemSwipe the item’s row to the left, on Dash, Spaces or Search, to reveal its quick actions.
  2. Tap the binTap the red bin to start removing the item. Nothing goes until you confirm it.
  3. Choose how to log itStockd Up asks how to record the removal. Tap Log as waste if the food has gone off, so it counts towards your waste Insights.
  4. Confirm the removalTap Remove to take the item out of stock without logging waste. The Space and its counts refresh straight away.

Lists 10

Add to a list with a swipe

Straight from the shelf to your shopping list.

The item is on the list you picked, with your quantity, so you can carry on checking the rest of your stock.

  1. Swipe the itemFind the item in one of your Spaces and swipe left on it to bring up its quick actions.
  2. Open the listsTap the blue list button. The Add to List sheet opens with the item already named, and you choose which list it goes on.
  3. Set the quantityTap plus to say how many you need, so the list shows the right amount when you shop.
  4. Add it to the listTap Add to List. The item lands on the list you chose with its quantity, ready for your next shop.

Add an item by hand

Get anything onto a list in a couple of taps.

Anything you type is saved to that list straight away, so it is waiting for you when you get to the shop.

  1. Add to the listOn the Lists tab, tap Add item on the list you want. A quick add panel slides up over your lists.
  2. Type the nameType the item into the box. Stockd Up searches what you already buy and offers to create anything new.
  3. Save the itemTap Add 1 item. It goes straight onto the list and is kept in your recents, so it is one tap next time.
  4. Close the panelAdd as many as you like, then tap Done to close the panel and go back to your lists.
  5. Check it landedOpen the list to see your new item sitting with everything else, ready for the next shop.

Search, then add several at once

Turn one search into a ready-made shopping list.

Everything the search found is on the list with the amounts you set, so one search covers the whole shop.

  1. Find what is lowOn the Search tab, tap the Low Stock filter to pull up everything that is running out, across every Space at once.
  2. Start a bulk addTap Add to list to take every result through together, instead of adding them one at a time.
  3. Set the amountsEvery result arrives ticked, on the list you choose at the top. Tap minus or plus to say how many of each you actually need.
  4. Add them allTap Add 4 to list. All four land on Weekly supermarket in one move, with the amounts you just set.
  5. Check the listOpen the Lists tab and your four items are waiting on Weekly supermarket, ready for the next shop.

Add several items in one go

Build the whole shop from what you already buy.

Everything you picked lands on the list in one move, with the amounts already set.

5 steps
  1. Open quick addOn the Lists tab, tap Add item on the list you are filling. A quick add panel slides up over your lists.
  2. Pick from recentsYour recent buys are waiting under Recent. Tap the plus beside one to add it, and tap again for each extra you need.
  3. Keep addingCarry on down the list. The green button at the bottom keeps a running total, so you can watch the whole batch build up.
  4. Add the batchTap Add 7 items. Everything you picked goes onto Weekly supermarket together, with the amounts you set.
  5. Close and checkTap Done to close the panel, then open the list to see your new items sitting with the rest of the shop.

Add to a list using the mic

Get the shopping onto the right list just by saying it.

Stockd Up listens, works out what you meant, and files it on the list you asked for.

  1. Tap the micOn Dash or Spaces, tap the microphone in the middle of the Quick Actions bar. This is Stockd Up listening, so you do not need Siri or any other assistant.
  2. Say what you needSay the items and the list they belong on, for example ‘Add two packs of strawberries and one pot of double cream to my weekly shopping list’. Your words appear as you speak, then tap Done when you have finished.
  3. Check what it heardStockd Up shows what it is about to add and which list it is going on. If that looks right, tap Add it, or tap the refresh icon to have another go.
  4. Open your listsStockd Up confirms the items were added and drops you back on your Dash. Tap the Lists tab to check them.
  5. See them on the listTap the list to open it. Both items are sitting there with the right quantities, ready for the next shop.

Add to a list from the digest

Turn a finished pack straight into a shopping list line.

The digest is your daily check on everything you have opened, so what you finish today is on the list before you forget.

  1. Slide it to EmptyThe Open item digest lists everything you have opened, soonest to use first. Slide an item down to Empty once the pack is finished.
  2. Say what happensStockd Up asks what should happen to the empty pack. Tap Add to shopping list to take it off your inventory and buy more.
  3. Pick the listChoose which list it should go on, and set How many first if you need more than one, so it lands with the right shop.
  4. Check your listOpen the Lists tab and the item is there on the list you chose, with its quantity, ready for your next shop.

Add to a list when stock is low

The last of the pack puts itself on your shopping list.

Stockd Up adds the item the moment it crosses your low level, and if it is already on that list it offers to combine the two.

  1. Open the itemOn the Spaces tab, tap the item you are about to use, then scroll down to its low stock settings.
  2. Check the ruleLow stock alert sets the level that counts as low, and Auto-add to shopping list decides how many to add and which list they go on.
  3. Use some of itSlide How much is left down to what is really in the pack. Here it goes from 90% to 30%, under the 0.5 boxes you set as low.
  4. Save the changeTap Update Item. The item crosses your low level, so Stockd Up puts it on Weekly supermarket on its own. It adds it once on the way down, not every time you change the amount.
  5. See it on your listOpen the Lists tab and the item is waiting on the list you chose, with the quantity you set, ready for the next shop.

Change how many to buy

Come home with the right number, not a guess.

The new count shows on the row and in Shopping Mode, so whoever does the shop picks up exactly what you need.

  1. Open the listOn the Lists tab, tap the list header to open it up, then scroll to the item whose count you want to change.
  2. Edit the itemTap the pencil beside the item. That opens its own sheet, where the count for this shop lives.
  3. Set the countTap plus, or minus, until the number matches what you actually need, so you are not doing sums in the aisle.
  4. Save itTap Save. The row on your list shows the new count straight away, and Shopping Mode adds it into the estimated total.

Move an item to another list

Put something on the right list without typing it again.

The item moves across with the quantity it already had, so the right things are waiting on the right list.

  1. Open the listOn the Lists tab, tap the list that holds the item so you can see everything on it.
  2. Open the itemTap the pencil next to the item you want to move. Its options open, showing the quantity and where it can go.
  3. Pick the new listUnder Move to another list, tap where it should go. The item moves across straight away, with nothing to save.
  4. Check it landedOpen the list you moved it to and the item is there, with the same quantity it had before.

Remove an item from a list

Keep the list down to what you actually need.

Taking something off a list only changes the list. What you have in stock stays exactly as it was.

  1. Open the listOn the Lists tab, tap the list you want to tidy, then scroll down to the item you no longer need.
  2. Take it offTap the x on the row. The item comes off the list straight away, with nothing to confirm.
  3. Clear any othersThe rows close up as you go, so you can drop anything else you have changed your mind about in the same pass.

List options 7

Give a list a new name

Keep every list named the way you shop.

Everything on the list stays exactly where it was, so only the name on the front changes.

  1. Swipe the listFind the list on your Lists tab and swipe left on it, then tap Manage to open its options.
  2. Choose Rename listTap Rename list. A box opens with the current name already filled in, ready to change.
  3. Type the new nameType the name you want. Tap into the name to add a word, or clear it and start again.
  4. Save the changeTap Save. The new name shows on your Lists tab straight away and every item on the list stays put.

Share a list with someone

Get the whole shop to whoever is going out.

They get a plain text copy they can read anywhere, and the live list in Stockd Up stays yours to change.

  1. Swipe the listFind the list on your Lists tab and swipe left on it, then tap Manage to open its options.
  2. Choose Share listTap Share list. Stockd Up writes the whole list out as plain text, grouped the way you shop, with anything already ticked off left out.
  3. Pick how to send itPick any app on the share sheet. Messages, Mail or Notes all work, because the list goes as ordinary text.
  4. Choose who gets itType whoever is doing the shop and send. They get every item, the counts and the estimated total, as a snapshot they can read but cannot edit back to you.

Set a reminder for a whole list

Get nudged to do the shop at a time that suits you.

Stockd Up alerts you on the day and at the time you picked, and keeps doing it every week until you change it.

  1. Open the list optionsFind the list on your Lists tab, swipe left on it and tap Manage to open its options.
  2. Choose ReminderTap Reminder. This is the timed nudge for the whole list, separate from the location reminder above it.
  3. Choose how oftenPick Just once, or a repeat that matches your shop such as Every week, then tap the day you want the nudge on.
  4. Set the timeTap the time, spin the wheel to the hour that suits you, then tap Set time.
  5. Add a note and saveAdd a short note so the alert tells you why you set it, then tap Set reminder to save it against the list.

Set a location reminder

Get the list in your hand the moment you arrive.

Stockd Up nudges you with this list as you pull into the car park, so the shopping gets done while you are already standing there.

  1. Open the list optionsFind the list on your Lists tab, swipe left on it, then tap Manage to open its options.
  2. Choose Location reminderTap Location reminder. This ties the whole list to a place rather than to a time, so it waits until you are there.
  3. Find the shopTap the search box and type the shop you want. If you are already standing in it, Or use my current location does the same job.
  4. Pick the right branchTap the branch you actually shop at. The address under each result keeps the nearby ones apart, so the nudge fires at the right door.
  5. Set the distanceChoose how close you need to be before the nudge fires, then tap Link this place. The list is now pinned to that shop.

Move every item to another list

Shift a whole list across without retyping a thing.

The whole list lands on the one you picked in a single tap, and the list you moved them from is left empty, ready to use again.

  1. Open the listOn the Lists tab, tap the list you are moving so you can see everything that is on it.
  2. Swipe the listSwipe left on the list and tap Manage to open its options.
  3. Choose Move all itemsTap Move all items to. Stockd Up shows your other lists so you can choose where everything goes.
  4. Pick the new listTap the list you want them on. Every item moves across at once and the old list is left empty.

Clear every item off a list

Empty a list in one go, ready for the next shop.

Only the items go. The list keeps its name and its place on your Lists tab, ready to fill up next time.

Delete a list you no longer need

Deleting a list only removes the list itself, everything in your Spaces stays exactly where it was.

Smart shopping 3

Start Shopping Mode

Walk round the shop once, with the list already in aisle order.

Shopping Mode sorts the whole list into aisles for you, so you can head straight round without doubling back.

  2. Start shoppingTap Start shopping. Stockd Up turns the list into Shopping Mode, laid out for the trip rather than for the kitchen.
  3. Shop by aisleShopping Mode gathers your items into aisles and always walks them in the same order, so you cross the shop once. The order is set for you, so there is nothing to arrange before you go.
  4. Keep an eye on itThe header keeps a running count of what is already in the trolley and an estimated total, so you know how far through the shop you are and roughly what it will come to.

Tick items off as you shop

Know what is in the trolley and what it is costing.

Everything you ticked is ready to go into your spaces, so putting the shopping away is one tap when you get home.

  1. Tick it offTap the circle beside an item as it goes into the trolley. It strikes through, so you can see at a glance what is still to find.
  2. Watch the totalThe running total at the bottom climbs with every tick, so you know what the trolley is costing you long before the till.
  3. Check your progressThe count at the top tracks every item into the trolley against the estimated total, so you always know how much of the shop is left.
  4. Put it all awayTap Put away to send everything you ticked into your storage spaces, or Just clear to empty the list without adding anything.

Putting your shopping away

Everything you bought lands back in the right Space.

Every item you ticked off is now in the Space it belongs to, with fresh dates on the units that have just arrived.

  1. Put the shop awayWith the trolley ticked off, tap Put away at the bottom of Shopping Mode to send the whole shop back into your Spaces.
  2. Check where they goStockd Up shows the Space and Section it has chosen for every item. Tap a line to send it somewhere else, then tap Put away to file the lot.
  3. Add the datesTap Add Dates to put use-by dates on what you have just bought, or Not Now if you would rather get the bags unpacked first.
  4. Set a use-by dateTap Set use-by on an item and choose the date from the pack. Only the units that have just arrived take that date, so anything already on the shelf keeps its own.
  5. Save the lotWork down the list dating whatever you want, then tap Done. Anything you skip is still put away, just without a date.

Reminders 4

Set a reminder for an item

Get a nudge to use something while it is still good.

Stockd Up will nudge you at the day and time you picked. If you delete the item later, it asks whether to keep the reminder or remove it.

  1. Start a reminderSwipe the item left and tap the amber clock, from Dash, Spaces or Search, to open a reminder for that item. The Open Item Digest has the same amber Remind action.
  2. Pick the dayTap the day you want to be nudged, then tap OK. The reminder stays tied to this item.
  3. Choose the timeTap Time, spin the wheel to the hour that suits you, then tap Set time.
  4. Add a noteAdd a short note, such as make burgers, so the alert tells you why you set it.
  5. Save itTap Set reminder. Stockd Up confirms it on the Dash and alerts you at the time you chose.

Check your reminders

The bell keeps count of everything you have set, so the meal you planned never quietly slips by.

  2. Check the countThe header tells you how many reminders are set, and the badge on the bell says the same thing at a glance.
  3. Read a reminderEvery reminder shows the item, the Space it sits in, when it will fire and the note you left yourself, so you know what it is for.
  4. Close the listTap Done to drop back to your Dash. Nothing is changed by looking, every reminder stays set.

Edit a reminder you have set

Move a reminder to a time that actually suits you.

Every reminder stays editable, so a change of plan takes seconds and nothing you set up is lost.

  1. Open your remindersTap the bell in the header, on any tab, to see every reminder you have set, with the badge showing how many are waiting.
  2. Pick the reminderTap the reminder you want to change. It opens with the date, time, repeat, sound and note exactly as you left them.
  3. Change the timeTap the Time field to open the picker. The Date field beside it works the same way if you need a different day.
  4. Spin to the new timeRoll the hour, minute and AM or PM wheels to the time you want, then tap Set time to carry it back to the reminder.
  5. Save the changeTap Set reminder. The reminder is updated in place, and your list shows the new time straight away.

Delete a reminder you no longer need

Clear an old nudge without touching the item.

Only the reminder goes. The item stays exactly as it was, and Undo is there if you tap the bin by mistake.

  4. Close the listTap Done to drop back to your Dash. The count in the header and the badge on the bell have already gone down by one.
  5. Undo a mistakeReminder removed appears at the bottom of the Dash with an Undo button, so tapping the wrong bin costs you nothing.

Search 5

Type to find anything you have

Find any item in seconds without opening a single door.

Search reads every item you have stocked, so you never have to rummage to find out what you own.

  1. Type what you wantTap the search box and type. Stockd Up splits what you type on spaces and commas and brings back anything that matches any of those words, looking at each item’s name, its notes and its category.
  2. See what matchedHide the keyboard and the full list is there with a count at the top. Because any word can match, typing cheese milk brings back both in one go.
  3. Open a matchTap a result to open it. The list groups matches by Space but does not name the shelf, so open the item when you want the exact section it is sitting in.
  4. Clear and go againTap the cross to empty the box and look for something else. Your recent searches sit underneath, ready to tap again.

Your recent searches

Run the checks you do most in a single tap.

Stockd Up keeps your last 10 searches, and they are still waiting next time you open the app.

  1. Reuse a searchOpen Search and your last searches sit under Recent. Tap one to run it again without typing a word.
  2. Clear the boxTap the x in the search box to empty it. The Recent list comes straight back, with the search you just ran now at the top.
  3. Search againRecent searches are listed newest first, so the ones you use most stay near the top. Tap any of them to search again.
  4. Tidy the listTap the x beside a search you no longer need and it goes. Stockd Up keeps your last 10 searches, and they persist between sessions.

Filter by Space, then by word

  1. Open the Space filterOn the Search tab, tap the All Spaces chip to choose which Spaces you want to look in.
  2. Pick a SpaceTick the Space you want, then tap Apply. Your results now come from that Space only, and the chip shows what is on.
  3. Add a wordTap the search box and type a word. Stockd Up narrows the Space you picked down to the items that match.
  4. Widen the searchTap the Space chip again to reopen the list of Spaces, with your current choice still ticked.
  5. Add a second SpaceTick a second Space and tap Apply to search across both. The chip reads 2 Spaces, and Clear all puts everything back.

Expiring, expired or fresh

  4. Try another filterTap a chip again to switch it off, then tap On list to see the items already sitting on a shopping list.
  5. Combine two chipsChips combine: tap a second chip and the results narrow to the items that match both, so On list plus Low Stock leaves just the one thing to buy.

Stick to everyday amounts such as packs, tins or a dozen, as voice does not know units you have created yourself.
  3. Add a use-by dateStockd Up asks whether the eggs need a use-by date. Tap Pick a date to set one, or No date to add them straight away.
  4. Choose the dateTap the day the eggs are good until and tap OK. The eggs land on the fridge shelves with their date, and Stockd Up confirms what it added.

Keeping track 5

Expiry dates explained

Sealed vs opened, Consume Within, and the active date.

Stockd Up tracks two kinds of date and always warns you about whichever comes first. Here is how they fit together.

  1. Sealed expiry - the printed dateWhen you add an item, enter the use-by or best-before date from the packaging. That is its sealed expiry.
  2. Opened expiry - once it is openFlip the Opened toggle and Stockd Up adds a Consume Within window - say three days - to the day you opened it, to work out how long the open item is good for.
  3. Which date winsThe app always counts down to whichever date arrives sooner, sealed or opened - so the number you see is the one that actually matters.
  4. Consume Within comes from the categoryEach category has a sensible default window, drawn from UK food-safety guidance. You can override it on any item if you know better.
  5. See it in actionEvery item shows its days left on the card, and Search can list everything that is expiring soon in one place.

Opening and using items

The Opened toggle, fill levels and the Open Item Digest.

Opening an item starts a fresh countdown and unlocks Stockd Up's consumption tracking. Here is the flow.

  1. Mark it openedOpen the item in the app and switch on Opened. Stockd Up date-stamps it and starts the use-within countdown.
  2. Track how much is leftAs you use something, set its fill level - full, three-quarters, half and so on. Over time this lets the app estimate when you will run out.
  3. Part-open packs are handledIf you have several of something, opening applies to one unit at a time. Use that one up and the next is still sealed - the card shows both, like '2 sealed, 1 opened'.
  4. The Open Item DigestTurn on the digest and Stockd Up gives you a gentle daily check-in on your open items, so nothing lingers at the back of the fridge.
  5. Find them fastSearch can filter to just your opened items in a single tap.

The freezer, done right

Star ratings, suggested use by dates and defrost nudges.

Stockd Up knows how long food keeps in the freezer, and adjusts to how cold yours actually gets. Here is how to use it.

  1. Set your freezer's star ratingWhen you create a freezer space, set its star rating from one to four. It is marked on the appliance, and it tells Stockd Up how long food stays safe.
  2. Smart storage suggestionsAdd something to the freezer and Stockd Up suggests a use-by date from the food type and your star rating, always taking the shorter of the two. Beef might keep six months at four stars but only three at three stars.
  3. Frozen onYou set the day you froze it, and Stockd Up works out the use by from there, so you can see what has been in there longest.
  4. Getting it back outWhen you are ready to use something, lower its count and Stockd Up offers a reminder to check on it while it defrosts.

Getting food out of the freezer

A nudge to check on something while it defrosts.

Take something out of the freezer and Stockd Up offers to remind you to check on it, so nothing sits thawing on the side all day.

  1. Take one outOpen the item in your freezer, lower the count by however many you are taking, and tap Update.
  2. Say yes to the reminderStockd Up asks if you want a nudge. Pick the day and time that suits, for example this evening to move it from the freezer to the fridge.
  3. Add a note if it helpsThe reminder has a note field. 'On the counter' or 'marinating' means you know what you meant when it goes off.
  4. Find it againTap the bell at the top of the screen to see every reminder you have set, change a time, or clear one once the job is done.

Your Dashboard at a glance

The dashboard is your daily home screen - what to use, how you are doing, and quick ways to add. Here is what each part does.

Shopping lists and Smart shopping

Build lists, shop them by aisle and share them with anyone.

Stockd Up keeps a shopping list that knows your store's layout and can be handed to whoever is doing the shop. Here is how to run it.

  1. Build your listAdd things by hand, or let Stockd Up offer them when an item runs out. The Lists tab is where it all lives.
  2. Order it by aisleGroup the list the way your usual store is laid out - produce, then dairy, then bakery - so you shop in one smooth sweep.
  3. Send it to someoneShare a list as a plain message - Messages, WhatsApp, Mail, whatever they use. It arrives grouped by aisle with the ticked-off things left out, and they need no app and no account to read it.

Shopping Mode and Put Away

  2. Pick your big featuresTurn on expiry dates, opened tracking, cost, waste and shopping lists - or leave off the ones you do not need. Some build on others: waste needs expiry, and price needs cost.
  3. Trim the item fieldsChoose which fields appear when you add an item - notes, pack size, price, best-before and so on - so the Add Item screen stays as simple as you like.

  2. Expiry alertsChoose how many days before an expiry you want warning - separately for sealed, opened and frozen items, since they need different lead times.

  4. Low stock nudgesGet a heads-up when a few items drop below their threshold, so you can add them to the list before you run out.
  5. Quiet hoursSet a window - overnight, say - where Stockd Up holds notifications until morning.
